Supersolidity, entropy, and frustration: t-t -V model of hard-core bosons on the triangular lattice

چکیده
We study the properties of t-t -V model of hard-core bosons on the triangular lattice that can be realized in optical lattices. By mapping to the spin-1 /2 XXZ model in a field, we determine the phase diagram of the t-V model where the supersolid characterized by the ordering pattern x ,x ,−2x “ferrimagnetic” or SS A is a ground state for chemical potential 3V. By turning on either temperature or t at half filling =3V , we find a first order transition from SS A to the elusive supersolid characterized by the x ,−x ,0 ordering pattern “antiferromagnetic” or SS C . In addition, we find a large region where a superfluid phase becomes a solid upon increasing temperature at fixed chemical potential. This is an analog of the Pomeranchuk effect driven by the large entropic effects associated with geometric frustration on the triangular lattice.

Extended supersolid phase of frustrated hard-core bosons on a triangular lattice.
We study a model of hard-core bosons with frustrated nearest-neighbor hopping (t) and repulsion (V) on the triangular lattice. We argue for a supersolid ground state in the large repulsion (V>>|t|) limit where a dimer representation applies, by constructing a unitary mapping to the well-understood unfrustrated hopping case. This generalized "Marshall sign rule" allows us to establish the precis...
متن کاملSupersolid phase transitions for hard-core bosons on a triangular lattice
Hard-core bosons on a triangular lattice with nearest-neighbor repulsion are a prototypical example of a system with supersolid behavior on a lattice. We show that in this model the physical origin of the supersolid phase can be understood quantitatively and analytically by constructing quasiparticle excitations of defects that are moving on an ordered background. The location of the solid to s...

We show that one-dimensional topological objects (kinks) are natural degrees of freedom for an antiferromagnetic Ising model on a triangular lattice. Its ground states and the coexistence of spin ordering with an extensive zero-temperature entropy can easily be understood in terms of kinks forming a hard-sphere liquid. Using this picture we explain effects of quantum spin dynamics on that frust...
متن کاملUnusual liquid state of hard-core bosons on the pyrochlore lattice.
We study the physics of hard-core bosons with unfrustrated hopping (t) and nearest-neighbor repulsion (V) on the three dimensional pyrochlore lattice. At half-filling, we demonstrate that the small V/t superfluid state eventually becomes unstable at large enough V/t to an unusual insulating state which displays no broken lattice translation symmetry. Equal time and static density correlators in...

Triangular norms in the study of probabilistic metric spaces as a special kind of associative functions defined on the unit interval. These functions have found applications in many areas since then. In this study, we present new methods for constructing triangular norms and triangular conorms on an arbitrary bounded lattice under some constraints. Also, we give some illustrative examples for t...
